HOPE IN THE TERMINAL: Efforts Underway to Help the Homeless at Atlanta Airport [WATCH]

According to an 11Alive.com report, strides are being made to assist the unhoused living at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

The city of Atlanta, along with outreach organization Hope Atlanta, will dedicate $3 million dollars to provide more permanent solutions to get the unhoused off the street.

The City Council voted to pass the measure Monday during its first full council meeting of 2025.

“This group does great work,” Atlanta City Councilman Amir Farokhi said. “It requires constant attention because the second you don’t do this work, things will flare up at the airport again. And we want it to be a pleasant experience for travelers, but we also want to make sure the city’s doing its part to help folks find housing and other support.”

“Sometimes it takes time, it takes multiple interactions with folks,” Farokhi said. ‘But when you can do that, you tend to move the needle toward less homelessness. All of us have run to the airport and may have stumbled across someone who’s unhoused. I think we should take a moment to say hey, that could be me if not for the grace of God.”
