A Georgia high school senior is reaching for the stars — and beyond…
Madiysen Kuykendall, 17, attends Langston Hughes High School in Fairburn, Georgia, where she’s a standout student and volleyball player. Madiysen maintains a 4.0 GPA, ranks in the top 10 percent of her class, serves as class president, and works two jobs.
That’s some next-level work ethic and discipline.
Madiysen has been rewarded for all her work, getting accepted to 53 colleges and earning $1.5 million in scholarships. Offers include the University of Michigan, Howard University, Xavier University, Spelman College, and many, many more.
“I felt in awe,” Madiysen said about her acceptance letters. “That was my goal at the beginning of the school year. I did want to have $1 million in scholarships.”
Among Madiysen’s top college choices are Spelman College and Howard University — but there’s not a college in the country that wouldn’t be happy to have her.
“It has been an amazing ride, and as a mom, I’ve just been riding the wave with her,” said Madiysen’s mother, Quianna Kuykendall. “It’s an incredible feeling. I wouldn’t trade this phase for the world. I’m excited to see her go on this journey and I’ll be there every step of the way.”
Madiysen plans to major in biology on a pre-med track and dreams of becoming a pediatric surgeon. Ultimately, she hopes to open her own clinic to help children.
She also shared advice for students currently applying to college:
“The stars are not the limit. You can go as far as you want,” Madiysen said. “Set a goal—but always remember you can exceed it.”
