Get your running shoes ready….
The Atlanta Community Food Bank is hosting its 41st Hunger Walk Run at The Home Depot Backyard on March 9, from noon to 4 p.m.. The annual event raises awareness and funds to combat food insecurity across metro Atlanta and North Georgia.
The Food Bank is addressing the highest demand for food assistance since the pandemic. To support the cause, people can participate in person or virtually. Every walker helps provide 90 meals, and every runner provides 120 meals for those in need.
Over the past 40 years, the Hunger Walk Run has raised over $15.5 million, funding over 46 million meals for families, seniors, children, and others facing hunger in the region.
This year’s event benefits the Atlanta Community Food Bank and other local nonprofit hunger relief organizations, supporting food pantries, shelters, senior centers, and childcare centers.
Online registration is open until Friday, March 7, at noon. The fee for walkers is $30, and for runners, it is $40. Walk-up registration will be available at the event for a higher rate. Participants can select a benefiting partner to support their registration.
This year’s sponsors include Georgia Power, the Inspire Foundation, the Coca-Cola Company, and The Home Depot Backyard.
The event is open to people of all ages and abilities and features a 5K walk and fun run, along with music, food vendors, and other activities. Participants can also track event updates via the Hunger Walk Run app.
