Honoring the fallen…

According to an 11Alive.com report, the Roswell community has come together to honor the memory of Jeremy Labonte — a 24-year-old police officer who died last month while responding to a domestic disturbance call.

The community is selling bracelets to raise money for Labonte’s family.

For three years, Labonte was a devoted member of the Roswell Police Department. He was celebrated for his unwavering commitment to service and positive community influence.

This collective effort underscores the community’s profound respect and admiration for people who dedicate their lives to public safety.

More on the shooting death of Officer Jeremy Labonte (from 11Alive.com):

Suspect Edward Espinoza, 23, is accused of firing on Labonte as the officer responded to a suspicious person call on Feb. 7 night near Market Boulevard in the parking lot near the ACE Pickleball Club.

There are still no details about what was reported as suspicious in the call. The GBI described Espinoza pulling a handgun as Officer Labonte approached and firing multiple shots. An exact timeline of the events Friday hasn’t been released, but Roswell PD said Espinoza was “immediately located and taken into custody” after shooting Labonte.

Espinoza’s charges include malice murder, the most serious murder charge in Georgia, felony murder, aggravated assault on a peace officer, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, according to the GBI.
