The shooting happened just after 6 p.m. Friday. Tyler Dewayne Moore, a 27-year-old man from Auburn has been arrested for shooting a Gwinnett County District Attorney investigator last week. As reported, Moore is being “charged with Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm, and Criminal Damage to Property. He is being held at the Gwinnett County Jail.”
A brief background of the events leading to the arrest indicates, according to Gwinnett County police reporting, that the “investigator was driving on Auburn Road towards the City of Auburn when he was shot in the leg.” The investigator was able to drive his car to a gas station and radioed for help. He was immediately transported to an area hospital.
Reporting discloses that the “shooting prompted a large police response and a multi-agency manhunt.” Following some evidence or witness observation, the police searched the Atlanta area “for a silver SUV with rear passenger-side damage.” Police were able to determined that the shooter was driving a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. Thereafter, Moore was identified as a suspect. Moore was not home when the police first visited his home late Sunday night.
Early Monday morning, Moore turned himself in at the Gwinnett County Jail. As reported, “the investigator, who has not been identified, was in an unmarked vehicle at that time.” Thus, presently, it is unknown if the investigator was targeted.
Sgt. Pihera opined: “It doesn’t appear right now that the investigator was attached to any police-related investigation. He was simply driving down the road when he was shot at by the shooter.” A photo of the suspect can be seen here.
