Courtney Owens, 34, worked at a Snellville car dealership, according to a press release from the Gwinnett County Police Department. While at work, Owens was fatally shot at about 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 9. Thereafter, events become somewhat murky. Authorities allege that the person accused of her murder is an ex-boyfriend from Georgia, 41-year-old Stoney Williams. man accused of her murder is an ex-boyfriend and, as reported, a former business partner.
Authorities allege “Williams hired 23-year-old Wesley Vickers to kill Owens. Vickers is believed to be the alleged gunman.” Nearly a month into the investigation, as reported by WSB-TV. “authorities arrested Vickers and charged him with felony murder, malice murder and aggravated assault.” Vickers is allegedly being held at the Gwinnett Detention Center.
Williams, as of the time of this Fox 5 Atlanta publication, has not been arrested and remains “on the run Monday.”
As claimed by responding officers, Owens was found her dead inside the car dealership. A witness “described seeing a masked man with a firearm leaving the scene on foot.” Unknown is whether Vickers has retained an attorney or has entered a plea in court.
According to the police department, Williams is or will be charged with malice murder, felony murder, and aggravated assault. Fox 5 Atlanta reported that investigators disclosed that “Williams goes by several aliases, including, Sherrod Eric Henry, Jaheim Lamar, Lawrence Tyrell Robinson, X Superman and others.”
Disclosing some personal details about Courtney Owens, Andrea Owens, Courtney’s mother, told the Atlanta News First that her hope was that Courtney would be remembered as someone who had a “great impact on society.” Andrea Owens elaborated: “My daughter was an entrepreneur, she earned it, she worked hard, and she was a good girl.” Courtney Owens leaves behind a 12-year-old son. Andrea Owens launched a GoFundMe campaign to help with memorial expenses, and, presumably, raising Courtney Owens’ son.
