Three teenagers attempted to break into and steal a car from a homeowner in DeKalb County. Investigators believe one of the alleged thieves was a 16-year-old. “While the three were attempting to steal the vehicle, police say the homeowner confronted them and fired at least one shot, hitting the 16-year-old teen.” As reported, the other two suspects fled the scene on foot. Police have not released any defining information on them.
Because of his age, the police will not release the identity of the 16-year-old boy. The police did disclose that the teen “is recovering in the hospital from a non-life-threatening injury after police say he was shot by a homeowner.”
Providing some background to the event, “Officials with the DeKalb County Police Department told FOX 5 that officers responded to the 3400 block of River Mill Lane shortly before 9 a.m. to investigate reports of a shooting.” At the scene, the report elaborated, “officers found a 16-year-old with a gunshot wound.”
Although the investigation is continuing, investigators are currently interviewing the homeowner. Officials have not said if the homeowner will face charges in the shooting.
