Deputies in Hall County, Georgia, attempted to take Jason William Grindle, age 34, into custody Monday afternoon. Grindle was wanted, as reported, “for aggravated assault, home invasion, armed robbery and exploitation of an elder person out of Stephens County.”
Deputies intended to arrest Grindle at a home located in the 2400 block of Brand Drive. “As law enforcement officers approached Grindle in the backyard of the home, at about 2:00 p.m. Monday, Grindle is alleged to have “pulled out a handgun,” according to law enforcement deputies. Upon Grindle brandishing the handgun, deputies “opened fire.” The deputies were “being assisted by officers from the Gainesville Police Department and an agent with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.”
As reported, deputies say “Grindle was shot more than once. An ambulance rushed him to an area hospital. Deputies say he was talking and alert.” The GBI has been asked to investigate the use of force.
