An incredible story shared.
This week on Doc & The Block, Daniel Di Martino, a Fellow at the Manhattan Institute and a PhD candidate in Economics at Columbia University, shares his personal account of escaping Socialism in Venezuela.
“I give talks all around the country explaining how blessed we are to have the freedoms we have in America because I didn’t have those freedoms in Venezuela,” Di Martino says.
Di Martino was inspired to move to the U.S. after becoming interested in economics, Milton Friedman, Ronald Reagan, and more.
“I think we take a lot of things for granted here … and because we take it for granted, that’s why people support politicians and policies that threaten that same prosperity — people who promise us free things,” Di Martino said. “And in Venezuela, we had that happen … Venezuelans voted for the same government that destroyed our prosperity.”
Di Martino has appeared on Fox News and CNN, and written for USA Today, National Review, City Journal and New York Post, among others. He is a regular speaker on college campuses and events across the country. He sits on the board of advisors of Young America’s Foundation’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Free Enterprise, and he is a member of the New Jersey State Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights.
