Kim Jones, Co-founder of The Independent Council on Women’s Sport — a network and advocacy group comprised of current and former collegiate and professional athletes — recently sat down with Doc & The Block to discuss empowering women through sports.
Jones played tennis at Stanford University, where she earned All-American status in both singles and doubles. She was a 3x NCAA Runner Up, NCAA doubles semi-finalist, and an individual finalist at the Singles NCAA National Indoors.
She has been a lifelong advocate for women in sports, serving on the Stanford Athletic Board and working with various sports organizations and athletes over her career.
Jones also works to protect women’s sports from biological male competitors.
“I speak with families and young girls and even professional athletes … this is happening so much more than people realize,” Jones said about trans athletes participating in women’s sports. “We need a cultural shift of people just unabashedly saying, ‘I’m not going to stand for it.'”
“When I was growing up, when you were told to get behind something unethical in your job, you’d quit! And you’d find your dinner somewhere else. Because your integrity is worth so much more than that,” Jones added, encouraging people to speak out against men competing in women’s sports.
