College Park’s Holiday Giveback Brings Joy, Gifts and Togetherness to Hundreds of Families [WATCH]

Hundreds of College Park families came together Monday night at the Gateway Center Arena for the city’s annual Holiday Giveback — part celebration, part helping hand, and all heart.

Mayor Pro Tem Dr. Jamelle McKenzie said the night showed what’s possible when a community pulls together. Families received toys, gifts, food, and plenty of encouragement, while volunteers and partners worked nonstop to make sure every child felt welcomed and supported.

This year’s event also accommodated everyone. A dedicated sensory-friendly section allowed children with autism and sensory needs to enjoy the festivities in a calm, comfortable space.

Local businesses and organizations were key to making it all happen. Teneshia, owner of T’s Brunch Bar, said giving back feels even more critical right now.

“I wanted to make sure the kids have a great Christmas,” she said, adding that the gratitude from families made the effort worth it.

Media company NowThatsTV joined the event for the first time, donating big-ticket items like PlayStations, Xboxes, musical instruments, and ride-on cars. Founder Teleau Belton said the goal was simple: make a real impact — and come back next year to do it again.

For Food in the City founder Jakeem Smith, the night went beyond gifts.

“I find joy being able to shift the narrative for families to have a better day,” he said.

City leaders said the Holiday Giveback reflects College Park’s broader commitment to compassion and collaboration — not just during the holidays, but year-round.

The city also honored Atlanta artist and philanthropist Yung Joc, presenting him with the keys to the city for his long-standing commitment to giving back and his continued impact on families and youth throughout the College Park community.
